The purpose and passion of IBS-STL is to faithfully translate and reach out with God’s Word so that people around the world may become disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His Body. We have been providing hope through translating and distributing the Bible since 1809.

God’s Word is inspired by the Spirit Himself. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17, TNIV). By the power of the Word, we are equipped for every good work.

In 2009, IBS-STL will celebrate its 200th anniversary! We are grateful to God for the way He has used us throughout almost two centuries. IBS now has more than 400 staff working in 48 ministry centers on five continents—Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America. Indigenous Bible translation is a core activity for IBS, with the New International Version (NIV) and Today’s New International Version (TNIV) as our principal translations. Each year, we distribute more than 13 million Scripture products on a free or subsidized basis.
