Dear Friends and Co-laborers,

Jesus summarized His Parable of the Sower recorded in Luke 8:4-8 by saying, “The seed is the Word of God.” Jesus goes on to explain that whether or not the seed survives, grows, and multiplies depends first on the Word being sown and secondly on the condition of the soil or heart that receives it.

Since 1809, for almost 200 years, International Bible Society (IBS) has been faithfully sowing the seed of God’s Word. Our ministry has reached immigrants coming to America through Ellis Island, soldiers in every conflict since 1812, and people around the world today. To each one, IBS has provided accurate and understandable Scriptures.

Our aim is to translate, publish, and share the Good News in ways that equip and encourage people so the seed grows abundantly in their hearts. As a result, people in every nation are coming to faith in Jesus and are following Him, in part, because IBS, in partnership with our many donors, has sowed the seed! This annual report highlights what God did through this ministry in 2006.

I am pleased to announce that in order to provide more Scripture to more people, IBS is in the process of a merger with a major ministry headquartered in the United Kingdom, Send The Light (STL)—one of the world’s largest distributors of Christian literature.

Our mutual goal is to share our many translations through STL’s global distribution capacity so, as Isaiah 11:9 says, The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

We at IBS expectantly look forward to the future and are grateful for your continued partnership in ministry.
